Apex UK Online Visibility Agent Request an SEO audit

A technical SEO audit: can search engines and AI crawlers actually use your site?

A technical SEO audit checks whether search engines and AI crawlers can reach, read and trust your site. Apex UK tests your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap, PageSpeed, structured data and crawler access, and shows exactly what is failing.

What the technical stage covers

  • Homepage response. Does the homepage load with a clean status, one canonical address and no redirect chain?
  • robots.txt. What it allows and blocks, group by group, including the named search and AI crawlers.
  • Sitemap. Whether one exists, whether it is referenced, and whether the URLs in it are the pages that actually exist.
  • PageSpeed. Lab measurements of loading, interactivity and layout stability on mobile and desktop.
  • Structured data. Whether your JSON-LD parses, which types are present, and whether they describe what the page visibly says.
  • Crawler access. Which retrieval and training crawlers can fetch your pages today, so the decision about each is a conscious one.

What a failure looks like

Each finding is reported as three things: what was checked, the evidence returned, and what to change. An illustrative example, for a fictional business rather than a client:

Illustrative example

After a site migration, robots.txt still carried the staging rule that blocked every crawler. The sitemap listed forty addresses that redirected to the homepage. The LocalBusiness schema on the homepage failed to parse because of one unescaped quotation mark.

All three would appear as separate findings with the response captured, ranked by how much each is costing and how easy it is to fix.

Who it is for, scope and exclusions

Who it is for

Any business with a website, whoever built it and whatever it runs on. It matters most after a migration, a redesign or a change of developer.

What it covers

The public site exactly as crawlers see it, checked from outside with no logins or access needed.

What it does not include

Server logs, a code review, or making the fixes. Fixing what is found is separate work, scoped after the audit, by us or by your own developer.

Questions about the technical stage

Can I buy the technical SEO audit service on its own?

It is one stage of the full SEO audit. If the technical stage is all you need, say so on the contact form. Scope and cost are agreed before any work starts.

Will you fix what you find?

The audit reports and ranks. Fixes are a separate, agreed piece of work, and the report is written so that your own developer can act on it if you prefer.
